Fall in Love with These 3 Town Sustainability Programs

Hey Danvers! In honor of the month of February, today, we are featuring Town sustainability programs you can fall in “love” with! Danvers residents looking to reduce energy costs and contribute to a cleaner and safer environment have access to several great local programs. Whether you're interested in saving on your energy bill, switching to solar power, or driving an electric vehicle, here are three programs designed to help you do just that.

1. SmartSavings Program: Save Energy, Save Money

The SmartSavings Program is an excellent opportunity for Danvers residents to improve their energy efficiency and reduce household energy consumption. This program, through the Danvers Electric utility, offers energy-saving rebates.

Residents who participate will receive a rebate for purchasing a smart thermostat, which will then be signed up for Community Energy Hours. Community Energy Hours are events that are called by Danvers Electric during peak demand times. During these events, the utility will make small adjustments to your thermostat's set-point in order to reduce your energy usage. This helps to make the grid more resilient and our community more sustainable. Once signed up, participants will receive a sign-on rebate followed by an annual participation rebate.

How to Get Involved:

  • Visit the Danvers SmartSavings Program page here.
  • Take advantage of the rebate to purchase a smart thermostat.
  • Sign up for Community Energy Hours and start saving energy and money!

2. Residential Solar Program: Power Your Home with Solar Energy

Danvers residents interested in switching to solar power can take advantage of the Residential Solar Program, designed to make solar energy more accessible and affordable. This program offers incentives for homeowners to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, reducing both their carbon footprint and energy bills.

In addition to helping you reduce reliance on traditional energy sources, solar installations can add long-term value to your property. Plus, with Massachusetts offering additional state and federal incentives, you can benefit from even greater savings.

How to Get Involved:

  • Learn more about eligibility, incentives, and solar installation details on the Residential Solar Program page here.
  • Consult with a solar installer to see how this program can work for you.
  • Start the application process for rebates and incentives to get your solar system installed.

3. Danvers Drives Electric: Transition to an EV

For those looking to make the switch to a cleaner, more sustainable vehicle, Danvers Drives Electric is the perfect place to start. This initiative encourages residents to adopt electric vehicles (EVs) and offers resources to make the transition easier. By switching to an electric car, you can reduce your carbon footprint, lower fuel costs, and take advantage of state and federal incentives for EV purchases.

The program also provides information on local charging stations and additional incentives for installing EV chargers at home.

How to Get Involved:

  • Check out the Danvers Drives Electric website here for more details on EV options and incentives.
  • Learn about EV charging infrastructure and how to install a home charging station.
