Earth Month 2025

Earth Month is here, and we’re excited to announce that the Town of Danvers will be hosting the 2025 Town Wide Clean Up on April 26th! Keep reading to learn about the history of Earth Day, why it matters, and how you can get involved in keeping Danvers clean and green this year.

What is Earth Day, and Why Does it Matter?

Earth Day, celebrated annually on April 22, is a global day of environmental education, climate action, and appreciation for our planet. The first Earth Day took place in 1970 when Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin launched a nationwide movement to raise awareness about environmental issues. Sparked by the 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, California, this movement led to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and major environmental legislation, including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act.

As Danvers continues its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, Earth Month is a great opportunity to engage the community in meaningful action. Achieving our sustainability goals requires collective effort, and Earth Day serves as an inspiring reminder that every action counts.

One of the best ways to take part in Earth Day this year is by joining your neighbors for the annual Town Wide Clean Up! This event, taking place on Saturday, April 26th, invites residents, businesses, and community groups to help beautify Danvers by cleaning up parks, streets, and public spaces.

The event kicks off at 9:00 AM at the Town Hall Front Lawn, where participants can pick up supplies before heading out to designated clean-up sites.

This is a fantastic opportunity to give back, enjoy the outdoors, and connect with others who care about our environment. Whether you volunteer solo, with friends, or as part of a local organization, every effort contributes to keeping Danvers a beautiful and welcoming place to live.

Join us in making a difference this Earth Month—see you at the Town Wide Clean Up!
