Join us at the Resilient Danvers Community Summit on November 5
Climate change impacts nearly every part of our daily lives—from the energy that powers our homes to the quality of the air we breathe and the roads we travel on. Addressing those challenges takes collaboration, planning, and action. That’s why we hope you’ll join us for the Resilient Danvers Community Summit on Wednesday, November 5, from 1–2:30 PM at The Larkin (562 Maple Street, Danvers, MA), located at Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical School.
This special event is a chance for community members to learn about Danvers’ ongoing climate action work, hear updates on our progress, and help shape what comes next. It’s also a great opportunity to connect directly with the people leading this work and share your ideas for a more sustainable, resilient future.
What to Expect at the Summit
The Summit will feature updates on the Town’s 2025 progress toward our climate action plan goals, including major projects and milestones. A representative from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Resources will share what it takes for Danvers to become a Green Community, a key step in advancing energy efficiency and sustainability.
Attendees will also get a sneak peek at 2026 action priorities, which focus on six key areas:
- Buildings – improving energy efficiency and resilience in homes and businesses
- Energy – supporting clean, reliable power for our community
- Natural Resources – protecting our open spaces, trees, and waterways
- Public Health and Safety – keeping residents safe from climate-related risks like extreme heat and flooding
- Transportation and Land Use – reducing emissions and improving how we move around town
- Solid Waste – cutting waste and improving recycling and composting efforts
We’ll also share information on upcoming stormwater management planning, an important part of managing flood risks as our climate changes.
Climate action in Danvers isn’t led by just one department—it’s a true team effort. The Resilient Danvers team includes champions from across Town departments, including Fire, Police, Public Works (which includes champions across Buildings, Water Treatment Plant, Forestry and Grounds, Engineering, and Danvers Electric divisions), Public Health, Recreation, the Town Manager’s office, Land Use and Community Services, and Planning and Economic Development.
This cross-departmental collaboration is critical because climate change affects every part of our community. By working together, these teams are building a more sustainable and resilient Danvers—one where everyone benefits from cleaner air, safer neighborhoods, and a healthier environment.
